How to Keep Your Friends Close in Forza Horizon 6
Forza Horizon 6 is just around the corner, set to release on May 19, 2026 (or May 15 for those lucky enough to get Early Access). This time around, the game takes players to the neon-lit streets and beautiful countryside of Japan, offering a fresh take on the open-world racing experience. One of the most exciting features is the way the game has reimagined how we interact with our friends while racing through the Horizon Festival.
In Forza Horizon 6, staying connected with your friends is easier and more immersive than ever. The new Horizon Play suite is packed with ways to keep you and your crew close, whether you’re looking to cruise the streets, compete in high-stakes races, or just hang out and show off your latest car build. Here’s everything you need to know to make the most out of the social features in Forza Horizon 6.
1. Join “Car Meets” (The New Social Hubs)
One of the biggest changes in FH6 is the introduction of Car Meets — physical locations that serve as social hubs directly integrated into the open world. Gone are the days of loading screens and isolated menus. Now, you and your friends can meet up at these car-themed spots in the game, check out each other’s vehicles, and instantly dive into action.
What They Are: Car Meets are locations scattered across the map where players can drive in, show off their cars, and socialize. These events don’t require you to leave the open world, making them feel more dynamic and connected.
How to Use Them: Look out for Car Meet icons on the map. Once you’re there, you can either start a Drag Meet or jump straight into a race with other players nearby. It’s the perfect place to gather your friends and enjoy a relaxing or competitive racing session without interruptions.
2. Form a Convoy
Convoys are the primary way to experience Forza Horizon 6 with your friends, and they’re packed with some cool features that make cruising the world with your crew more enjoyable. You can invite up to 11 friends (for a total of 12 players) into a single session, allowing for epic group adventures.
The System: Once you’re in a Convoy, you and your friends can roam around the open world together. When the Convoy leader sets a waypoint, everyone else can see the route, making it easy to navigate tight city streets in Tokyo or the winding mountain roads of the countryside.
Convoys are a great way to explore the massive map while staying together. Whether you’re chasing down collectibles or racing through the streets, you’ll always have your friends by your side.
3. Master the “Horizon Play” Modes
Forza Horizon 6 takes the competitive aspect of the game to the next level with new modes that cater to different types of racing fans. Whether you’re looking to compete head-to-head or team up with your friends to tackle challenges, the Horizon Play menu has something for everyone.
Touge Showdown: Inspired by Japan’s street racing culture, Touge Showdown is a new 1v1 or team-based mode perfect for testing your drift skills. You and your friends can go head-to-head to see who’s got the best setup and control.
Spec Racing: If you have that one friend who always brings an overpowered hypercar, Spec Racing is the mode for you. This mode forces all players to use the same car model, which means no one can rely on sheer car power. It’s all about skill.
Hide & Seek: This unique 1v5 mode gives one player a chance to hide while the rest of the players must track them down before time runs out. It’s a fun way to shake things up and test your friends’ abilities to hunt or escape.
These new modes are not only fun but also help strengthen the bond with your friends as you race together, compete, and work as a team.
4. FH6 Credits: The Shared Economy
In Forza Horizon 6, the economy has been reworked to focus more on group-based play rather than passive rewards. FH6 Credits (CR) are now harder to come by, which makes racing with your friends a more rewarding experience.
Co-op Link Skill Chains: One of the coolest features for group play is the Co-op Link Skill Chains. When you’re in a Convoy and perform skills like drifting, near-misses, or airborne stunts near each other, you trigger a Link Multiplier. This boosts your Skill Points and CR payout for everyone involved, making team play even more rewarding.
Time Attack Circuits: These are new, dedicated race circuits located in the open world. You and your friends can race through them to earn CR and XP. Plus, there’s a live leaderboard, so you can compete for the best lap time while grinding for credits with your crew.
Convoy Race Bonuses: Racing with your friends in a Convoy isn’t just about fun — it also gives you a Social Bonus multiplier to your final CR payout. Even if you don’t finish first, the more friends you have in the race, the bigger your CR reward will be.
The Car Meet Marketplace: If you spot a friend’s car in a Car Meet and love their build, you can buy a copy of it, including their specific tuning and liveries. This not only lets you enjoy their creations but also rewards your friends for their design and tuning skills with a portion of the credits spent.
High-Contrast Farming: For those looking to quickly farm some CR, groups have already found a new way to do so. The Mascot Boards, unlike the static bonus boards of the past, are scattered in clusters, making them perfect for Convoys to sweep through together. This method gives you a fast way to rake in credits while bonding with your friends.
5. Utilize the “Estate” System
In FH6, there’s a new system that lets you buy properties and customize your garages. This isn’t just about storing cars — it’s a social feature that brings you and your friends closer together.
Friend Visits: You can invite your friends to visit your estate and show off your custom garage layout and car collection. It’s a fun way to showcase your achievements and see what your friends have been working on.
CoLab: The CoLab tool is another great feature that lets you build custom events and stunt tracks within the game world. These custom creations can be shared with your friends, letting them experience your unique designs and challenges.
